Drone Maker Valued at $10bn

Now here is a billion dollar valuation that we can get behind.  DJI recently took in a $75m funding round at a $10bn valuation.

Who the heck is DJI?  Unless you are either a aviation or valuation nerd you might not know… but they are drone makers.  You know – those pesky little things that are all over the skies these days?  The ones that Amazon faux-wants to deliver packages with?

That’s DJI.

And here is why we can get behind this: it’s a rapidly growing market.  It’s a huge market.  Beyond Amazon, and the military, and the police, there are civilians flying these things all over creation.  And they are an actual product.  A tangible thing that is bought and sold, and changes hands for actual money.

That’s not to say that thing’s that aren’t tangible can’t be valuable, but in the lofty range of billion dollar valuations for early stage companies, it’s a lot easier to rationalize one that has an actual product, and revenues, and a growing market.
